Links In The Community

The club has been involved in many projects to promote athletics in the area.

The Cheshire Youth Games has seen a big commitment on behalf of the club over the years. The Cheshire Youth Games is designed to encourage participation in sporting activities with athletics included as one of the sports.

Over the last seven years there has been a significant amount of effort put into the games particularly by Neil Templeman and Sue Clarke who for six consecutive years were Mid Cheshire team managers.

Other coaches from the club who have been involved in the games include Shaun McGrath, Les Hitchen, Pauline Thom, John Watson, Dave Copsey, Michaela Penney as well as athletes from the club.

The club has also been a frequent visitor into primary and secondary schools over the years where coaches have provided coaching sessions for the schools in order to improve athletic skills.

The club has also promoted national fund raising schemes with Sport Relief and local fund raising activities, such as the Mayors Funding Raising Races.

In 2006 the club linked up with Vale Royal Borough Council Sports Development department to promote a series of cross country races at Knights Grange Sports Complex, Winsford.

The club has also been involved in the promotion of their own race the Pie and Peas 5 Mile Multi-terrain race, which in 2006 had its largest entry ever, of 235 runners.
