Hanna Gains Silver Medal At

British Track And Field Championships

Hanna Hewitson gained a silver medal in the British Track and Field Championships 2006 in the Under 17 ladies triple jump to the delight of everyone at Vale Royal AC.

Hewitson jumped to a seasons best of 11.77 metres where the winner jumped to 11.78 metres, where Hanna missed out on the gold medal by 1cm.  Hanna was very proud to represent the club and wore blue and yellow ribbons in her hair, along with her face painted in blue and yellow colurs.

Jumps Coach Neil Templeman thoroughly enjoyed a very entertaining competition where the rivalry was fiercely competitive but very friendly at the same time which was great to see.

Rebecca Cragie also enjoyed an excellent performance in the Under 15 girls 1500 metres in very warm and humid conditions to come in a very pleasing 5th place.  Shaun McGrath was very pleased with Rebecca who battled all the way to the finish.

Hannah Weedall also contested the 3000 metres in the Under 17 ladies age group to finish in a good position with a very, very red face, after a hard fought race in very humid temperatures.

Lee Davenport contested the Under 17 mens 400 metres and reached the semi finals in a very hard fought race to enjoy the championships.

Kathy Stringer also competed at the championships in the under 15 girls 1500 metres for the very first time and found it to be a huge learning curve that was extremely enjoyable.

Club President Harry Evans was delighted with the performances of Hanna, Hannah and Rebecca, Kathy and Lee where he said that the athletes are great role models for younger athletes at the club and shows that training on a regular basis with commitment gets you places.
