Gold and 2 Silvers at the
National XC Relays!
Report from Andy Carter:
In pretty atrocious conditions we had a great day at the National Cross Relays in Mansfield last Saturday and finally the club came away with a gold medal!
Despite the conditions our
athletes acquitted themselves well and we ended up with 3 National Medals,
all within just over an hour.
U17 Men, followed by the U15 Girls and then the U15 Boys.
First of all the U17 Men put in a sublime performance to take the silver
medal, this was followed by the U15 Girls getting the gold medal in great
style, finishing with a comfortable winning margin of 23 seconds.
Not to be outdone the U15 Boys ran another superb race to take the silver,
albeit in a very close race where just 3 and a half seconds separated 1st
and 4th at the finish.
Three medals in a National Championships is a pretty good days work!
Other top 20 finishes were
from the Junior Men in 17th and our second U15 Girls team in 19th.
Individually in the U13 Boys, Robbie was 17th on the first leg, for the
U15 Girls Hope was 18th fastest on the first leg, with Grace the fastest
2nd Leg runner and Holly W fastest 3rd leg runner.
In the U15 Boys, Dylan was 12th quickest on the 1st leg, Jake 8th on the
2nd and Patrick 3rd on the final leg.
In the U17 Men Will was 15th on leg one, Ed 5th fastest on leg 2 and Raif
2nd fastest on the final leg.
Holly S was 6th fastest on the first leg in the Junior Women and Arun was
8th fastest on the last leg in the Junior Men.
