Request for Trained Event Officials

Message from Alan Morris - Cheshire County Officials’ Secretary:

As you may know, the 2017 Cheshire Track & Field Championships are being held at Victoria Park Warrington on Saturday and Sunday 13-14 May 2017.
The Greater Manchester County Association has decided that it does not wish to continue to hold joint championships, so this will be a Cheshire-only County Championships.

Whilst I know that many will welcome a return to a Cheshire-only Championships, it does mean that we will have to provide all of the officials.
We have benefitted from the support of Greater Manchester officials in recent years and I know that finding the number of officials necessary to provide our athletes with a high standard of competition will be a challenge.
Can I therefore please ask for your support in a drive to recruit and train more officials.
We are particularly short of timekeepers and track judges in Cheshire, but additional field judges, starters and starters’ assistants would also be very welcome.
If you know of anyone at your club who may be interested in becoming a qualified official, please encourage them to attend a Level 1 training course.
Having more qualified officials available will be to the benefit of your club, as well as to Cheshire Championship events.

There are three Level 1 track & field officials’ courses being held in the North West in the Spring of 2017:
Wavertree Athletic Track, Liverpool on Sunday 19 February.
Sportcity, Manchester on Sunday 12 March.
Witton Park Athletic Track, Blackburn on Sunday 26 March.

Those of you in the south of the County may also be interested in courses in the Midlands.
There are courses for timekeepers and field judges at Rugby on Saturday 4 February and there is a field judging course at Telford on Wednesday 8 March.

Further details of courses in the North are in the attached flyer (HERE) and details of all courses can be found on the England Athletics website at:
