National Road Relays
Report from Andy Carter:
"The National Road Relays on
Saturday were very exciting and it was so good to get all the relays in the one
day - from a Vale Royal point of view we had interest from first event to the
I think it is fair to say this was the clubs most successful day ever - 6 of our 7 teams achieved top 15 finishes - which not many clubs could match.
Indeed in the Young Athletes Relays only Blackheath with a 2nd ,4th ,6th,6th and 7th placings were clearly better but I think we were on a par with the likes of AFD, Herne Hill, Tonbridge and Charnwood.
The U13 Boys set things off with a fine 15th place.
The U13 Girls came an excellent 5th with Holly Weedall second fastest.
The U15 Boys came 7th with Alfie Bould posting the fastest time of the day.
The U15 Girls produced another brilliant performance taking 4th place with Holly Smith clocking the 8th fastest time of the day.
Our U17 Men then produced the performance of the day taking the Silver Medal in a simply superb race, I think this is our best ever position in these Relays - and also Arun Dight got the second fastest time.
Our Senior Women then took a strong 12th place and with two other teams finishing 41st and 55th showing the depth in our Senior ranks.
Finally our Senior Men's team took 41st place, which considering that the average age of the team was under 20 was another fine performance."
