Hollins Green 5K

Saturday saw a total of 23 Vale Royal runners compete successfully in the Hollins Green 5k.
Of particular note was the mix of junior and senior athletes, who between them achieved a series of impressive results.

The big highlight was winning the Mens and Ladies Team prizes, only the 2nd time a club has won both in the history of the event.
The winning Ladies team consisted of Amelia Pettitt, Mel Johnson and Lucy Whittick.
The Mens team comprised Stuart Doyle, Mike Vennard, Ryan Moore and Zack Bamber.
Additionally the Ladies B Team came 5th and the Mens B and C teams were 8th and 11th respectively.

A number of runners achieved individual placings right across the spectrum of age categories:
Amelia finished 2nd lady (1st Junior lady) and Lucy 2nd junior lady whilst Mary Taverner was 3rd female Over 50.
Mike Vennard was 3rd Junior male, Stuart Doyle 1st Over 40, John Thompson 3rd Over 45 and Tony Archer 3rd Over 55.

This was the 4th in the 7 race Cheshire Grand Prix series and leaves the club strongly positioned in 2nd place overall in the Ladies championship and 3rd place in the Mens out of a total of 18 clubs.

Thanks to Stu Doyle for this report.
