Cheshire Track & Field Report

Vale Royal athletes were successful in the first Cheshire Track and Field League meeting of the year at Ashton-U-Lyne on Sunday (22nd April).

The U11 Girls team of Isla Law, Neve Maddock, Molly Billinge, Olivia Moynihan and Bethan Kelly achieved a number of top 3 performances across the 75m, 600m, Long Jump and Soft Javelin and put the icing on the cake with a victory in the 4 x 100m relay.

Meanwhile Rory Thompson and Aaron Doyle set Personal Best performances in all the U11 Boys events.
As a result the U11's finished 3rd overall team out of 6.

The U13 Girls of Ellie Jackson, Jasmine Thompson, Lucy Westray and Caitlin Dimmick, and U13 Boys comprising Bayley Royle, Alex Doyle, Luke Mills, John Humphries, Ben Maxwell-Reid and Finlay Law also had a number of podium places and PB's, the picks being Ellie's victories in the Girls 100m (13.5 secs) and Long Jump (3.97m) and Finlay's 1st place in the Boys High Jump with a leap of 1.37m.
Particularly impressive was the fact that all the U13's are aged either 10 or 11 and in their first year in this age group.

Additionally there were similarly strong performances from a number of the clubs older athletes with Harriet Davy 4th in the U15 Girls 100m (13.6s), Sam Denny 2nd in the U15 Boys 200m (26.1s) and Jack Forster 3rd in the U17 Boys 200m (24.9s) all setting PB's.
