Another Gold

at the North of England

U20 Track And Field Championships

The North of England u20 track and field championships were held at Liverpool at the weekend.

Tom Norrey represented Vale Royal in the discus, James Griffiths in the 800m and Tom Stringer in the 400m hurdles.

Stephen Mitchell finished a very good 5th in the 1500m in a time of 4min 1.58 sec.

Hannah Hewitson jumped 12.00 mtrs in the triple jump to take silver.

Vale Royals Charlotte Roach then won her first ever gold in a major championship when she won the 1500m in a time of 4min 34.84 sec. In a top class field Charlotte ran stride for stride for three laps with England internationals like Natalie Grant (Rotherham). With three hundred mtrs to go Klachen Cheshire from Hull broke away followed by Charlotte who then took the lead with about one hundred to go and crossed the line a full second ahead of Cheshire (click HERE for photo).

Charlotte who lives in Chester and attends Christleton High sixth form is now getting ready for the AAAs championship at Bedford at the weekend where she will race head to head with club mate Stevie Stockton.
The result shows the strength of the Vale Royal squad in still winning this event with the clubs GB international Stevie Stockton resting.
