How the Junior Section operates…
Vale Royal Athletic Club has a simple philosophy of providing athletics opportunities without placing undue pressure on athletes. Today many clubs place the importance on winning points in league meetings, rather than caring about the athletes.
Of course the club attends league meetings, however, the points do not really matter. It is the athletes that matter. This may be the reason why the club has a excellent attendance rate of athletes aged seventeen and over.
The club coaches instead prefer to attend ‘open meetings’ where the emphasis is again placed with the development of the athlete rather than the issue of chasing points in leagues.
The club does encourage athletes to compete in County Championships, Northern Championships and National Championships. Therefore, those athletes who do wish to pursue the major championships can experience the competitive element of athletics events.
