Coach Induction Process

Vale Royal Athletic Club has in place a 'Coach Induction Process' where existing or newly recruited coaches are provided with important information necessary to coaching.

All Coaches at Vale Royal Athletic Club have to:

Have a CRB Check
Be Qualified or Working to a UK Athletics Coaching Qualification
Be Insured to Coach Athletics
Attend Child Protection Workshops and Health And Safety Workshops
Be Aware of Club Emergency Response Procedures During an Accident
Have Knowledge of Risk Assessments

These are just some of the strategies that have been put in place in accordance with Clubmark - the quality accreditation scheme for sports clubs which is recognised by Sport England.

The reason for the induction is to make sure the coach has knowledge of how the club works to provide a safe learning environment for athletes under their care.

Each coach will have a check list of things to do, with some being compulsory (eg CRB check).  Others are advisory, such as being aware that the club has a web site and which should be mentioned to newcomers at the training sessions.

Each coach will be guided through the induction process by the Club Coaching Co-ordinator Dave Copsey to make sure the compulsory parts of the induction are completed.
